Hollow Cylinder System

VJ Tech’s Hollow Cylinder System Test subjects the sample to four distinct applied stresses: Axial, Torsional, Inner, and Outer confining stresses. This provides the specimen with four degrees of freedom for deformation. The sample is prepared as a thick hollow cylinder, securely positioned between two rigid platens.

Measurement of vertical and torsional movements is enabled by LSCT Transducers and the built-in Encoders in the servo motors. Safety is ensured through limit switches, and the strain rate is adjustable via PC. Standard models include Pro Hydraulic APCs for Back Pressure and Inner and Outer Cell Pressure control.

Clisp Studio software streamlines the entire testing process, including Saturation, various Consolidation phases (Isotropic, Anisotropic, or K0), Static Loading, Stress Path and Cyclic Shear (Stress or Strain, Axial and Torsional) tests, allowing for easy setup and execution.

The primary objective of the Hollow Cylinder System Test is to investigate the behaviour of the specimen when subjected to three unequal principal stresses and then assess the influence of rotation-induced stresses during specimen rotation. This offers valuable insights into the complex interactions within the soil under varied stress conditions.
