Typical Bender Element Testing Sytems
Bender Element testing is a non-destructive way of determining the small strain shear modulus (GMax) of a soil sample.
Sending an S-Wave or P-Wave from a transmitting piezoelectric element in the Top Cap, through a soil sample to a receiving piezoelectric element in the Base pedestal and comparing the transmitted and received waveforms
Sample is assembled in an adapted Triaxial Cell or a Dynamic Triaxial Cell.
Alternatively, S and P waves can be transmitted horizontally through the sample using horizontal bender elements inserted on opposing sides of the sample that are sealed with specially adapted sealing ‘O’ Rings.
