Typical Bender Element Testing Sytems
Bender Element testing is a non-destructive way of determining the small strain shear modulus (GMax) of a soil sample.This is achieved by assembling the sample in an adapted Triaxial Cell or a Dynamic Triaxial Cell and either;
- Sending an S-Wave or P-Wave from a transmitting piezoelectric element in the Top Cap through the soil sample to a receiving piezoelectric element in the Base pedestal and comparing the transmitted and received waveforms
- Transmitting S and P waves horizontally through the sample using horizontal bender elements inserted on opposing sides of the sample that are sealed with specially adapted sealing ‘O’ Rings.
The product shown is a representative System Setup for Bender Element testing that can be provided by VJ Tech and the associated software to control, monitor, execute and produce results for the Bender Element test.
