VJ Tech's Pro SD-SWCC System is used to determine the influence of the stress state on the Soil Water Characteristic Curve (SWCC) of a soil sample. Stress-Dependent SWCC (SD-SWCC) is an advanced test which combines the determination of the SWCC at different ko stress conditions, trying to replicate the stress state occurring at deeper soil layers. The cell is precision made specifically for soil testing laboratories and is available for a 70 mm diameter specimen. It has a heater and a temperature sensor to prevent evaporation, is hard anodised to minimise corrosion and is provided with a separate temperature controller. Vertical Load is applied using our motorised ACONS Pro Multi-Purpose Load Frame which is of compact design and features advanced electronics with up to 3 input channels (2 x Analogue & 1 x Digital), and touchscreen display for standalone use. Suction is generated using a Pro Pneumatic APC at the top of the sample and a Pro Hydraulic APC at the base, thus applying the axis-translation technique. A fitted load balance pressure compensator reduces air pressure effects on the vertical load measurement. Both drying and wetting SWCCs can be determined, allowing hysteresis to be studied. The Test is controlled using our Clisp Studio SD-SWCC Software Module.
