Laboratory Vane Equipment
Our Laboratory Vane Apparatus is based on the original design by the TRL and conforms to BS1377 & ASTM D4648 for shear testing. Torsional load is applied through one of four calibrated springs to a laboratory vane, to determine the shear strength in soft soils of undisturbed or remoulded samples and scales indicate the load application and any vane deflection.
There are three different motorising attachments that can be fitted to automate the test process and provide better accuracy:
- BS Standard (240V/50Hz)
- Switchable BS/ASTM Standard (240V/50Hz)
- ASTM Standard (110V/60Hz)
If purchased with the Laboratory Vane Apparatus, the motorising attachment will be fitted and tested. Alternatively, the motorising attachment can be purchased at a later date and easily fitted at the customer site.
Additional sets of springs and vanes are available as well as the Lab Vane tube and jar attachment.
We can also provide a Handheld Vane Shear, which is used on-site, for a quick and easy initial analysis of the soil or clay shear strength in an area of geotechnical interest
