Overview

csPerm

The Clisp Studio csPerm module is an add-on to the core package (csHost) that makes it easy for you to set-up, control and monitor Rowe Cell and Triaxial Cell Permeability Testing in soil testing laboratories to BS1377-6, and collate and output the results in industry standard or your own defined format.

Create

Permeability Test Setup

Clisp Studio csPerm comes with the easiest test creation and setup of any Geotechnical Permeability software package available today. Choose the test type you require, select the appropriate Standard and proceed through the steps of the wizard, initially setting up the specimen details and hardware relevant to your Test set up.

Test Types

Clisp Studio offers full Pemeability Testing using either a Rowe Cell or a Triaxial Cell under Constant Head conditions to BS1377-6.

Hardware Setup

The Hardware setup screen has been designed to show you the choices relevant to your selected Test Type and Installed Hardware, enabling you to easily select the right Instrument required for Control or Transducer Input.

Specimen Details Setup

The Dimensions setup screen will automatically calculate and display the Specimen’s Area, Volume and Bulk Density from the data entered by the User.

Similarly, the Moisture setup screen will automatically calculate and display the Specimen’s Moisture, Dry Density, Voids Ratio and Degree of Saturation from the entered data.

Configure

Permeability Test Configuration

With Clisp Studio you have complete control of Permeability testing for all stages. Stages can be configured to perform a standards based test or a custom test specific to your exact needs.

Saturation Stage Setup

We support both ‘Step’ and ‘Ramp’ Saturation methods and the incremental Cell and Back Pressure steps to saturate the specimen are easily set up. All appropriate calculations are performed automatically as the stage progresses with all relevant data logged at your specified intervals. You can choose when to terminate the stage, whether the B-value has been achieved or the volume or pore pressure changes by less than a certain amount.

Consolidation Stage Setup

You can specify a number of Consolidation increments, each consisting of an undrained phase followed by by a drained phase, with the switchover dependent on PWP change over a period of time. The initial Back Pressure for each increment is specified according to your requirements.

Consolidation Stage Setup (cont.)

You can specify the Consolidation stage to be stopped when the Pore Water Pressure dissipation exceeds a specified percentage and/or the Volume changes by less than a specified amount within a selected time period and/or a specified maximum time is exceeded.

Permeability Stage Setup

Having selected the flow direction and sample preparation method, a sequence of Effective Pressure Gradients can be set up, each with a Cell, Back and Drain Pressure together with Initial Temperature. Data logging will commence after a specified delay, at either a specified rate or using a time step table.

The Stage will terminate either when constant flow has been achived for a defined period and/or a maximum time has been exceeded.

Execute

Permeability Test Execution

You are able to monitor the status and condition of the Permeability test as it proceeds. Live Views, Graphs and Tables show test progress while summary windows give Instrument, test and sample status at a glance.

Live Test Views

For all three stages (Saturation, Consolidation and Permeability) we offer predefined live data views to observe the most commonly measured variables and calculated data for the specimen being tested, whilst the Test Stage is running. This enables you to keep a close on eye on the measured parameters to check that everything is progressing well. Clisp Studio also enables you to customize the desired Live Data from the list of variables that are relevant to that particular stage.

Live Graphical and Table Views

For all three stages (Saturation, Consolidation and Permeability) Clisp Studio enables you to monitor the Test progress both graphically and in the form of a table whilst the Test Stage is running. There are Predefined Graphs which plot using the usual axes and predefined Tables which display the most commonly measured parameters and expected results as the Test progresses, but you can also customize the desired Graphs and Tables from the list of variables that are relevant to that particular stage.

Report

Permeability Test Results

As well as the completed Live Data View, Graph and Table, csPerm gives you additional Results tables.

Consolidation Results

The Consolidation Results provide you with the Consolidation and Compressibility, the t100 value, the Voids Ratio and End Length.

Permeability Results

The Permeability Results provide the moisture calculations from the final input weight data, the Effective and Gradient Pressure, the Head Loss Correction and the Permeability value.

Data Export and Import

Clisp Studio has the ability to export Test data to MS Excel for further manipulation. The Test can also be exported to a script file which can be imported by Clisp Studio on another computer and rerun if required.

This facility is extremely useful for Test exchange between laboratories or investigation of an issue by VJ Tech.
