Backing up a Database (SUP0008)

Nov 21 2014

How to Backup a Database

Clisp Studio allows users to Backup their Database with ease. A Database Backup saves ALL tests and data that have been created on that Database. This can be extremely useful for the VJ Tech Service team when providing remote assistance, as it will allow them to replicate exactly what you are seeing by restoring a copy of your database.

To see a tutorial video on how to back up a database click here or find support document SUP0008 in the Support Section of the site.

Backing up a Database

  1. Open Clisp Studio

  2. From the 'Files' pull-down menu select the ‘Database Connection…’ option. This will bring up the ‘SQL Database Connection’ window (see figure 1 & 2)

  3. From the ‘Options’ pull-down menu select the ‘Backup this Database’ option. This will bring up the ‘Save Database File’ window

  4. Navigate to the SQL Database Backup file on your computer, editing the displayed path name as necessary. The path to this file may be different for a 32-bit or 64-bit machine, as 64-bit machines have also have 'Program Files (x86)' in which case check both to find the Backup Folder (see figure 3)

  5. When naming the Database, label it appropriately for future reference and archiving (see figure 3)

  6. Click on the 'Save' button to backup the Database.
