Direct Simple Shear

Mar 31 2014

VJ Tech has developed a Simple Shear Testing System, used to carry out a direct simple shear test to determine the shear modulus of a soil sample. The sample is contained within confining rings under applied normal load and is sheared along a predefined plane until it is stressed to failure.

The apparatus is microprocessor controlled, has inbuilt data logging and is supplied complete with a lever loading device, hanger and sample unit (with mould and confining rings), all mounted on a floor standing frame. Horizontal and vertical loads and displacements are measured as required and passed to the controlling Clisp Studio software which conforms to ASTM D6528-07.

Main Advantages

·       Passive height control

·       Built-in graphics display and keypad for local operation

·       Stepper motor control for horizontal loading

·       RS232 interface for PC control

Specification

·       Vertical Load – 5kN

·       Horizontal Load – 5kN

·       Horizontal Travel – 20mm

·       Speed Range (Standard) – 0.0001-10.0000 mm/min

·       Fast Speed Forward – 10 mm/min

·       Fast Speed Reverse – 10 mm/min

·       Power - 240V 50Hz 1ph

·       Weight - 113Kg

·       Dimensions (W x D x H) - 1200 x 500 x 1400mm
